The main aims of the office:

The office works out agreements, work programs and plans of the university activity in the sphere of collaboration with foreign higher educational establishments, research centers, organizations and companies. The principle functions of the office are the preparation of DSTU specialists' business trips to the partner universities, organizations and companies, drawing up of invitations and admission of foreign specialists. Office is responsible for the programs of partial education for students of foreign partner institutes of higher education and DSTU. The results of scientific and technical collaboration are summarized and analyzed; on the basis of it suggestions on the increasing of efficiency of international university activity are developed.

Also the office is responsible for:

- development of strategy of university international activity, its integration into the world educational and scientific systems;

- organization of university international activity, development of methods of its realization, preparation of agreements (programs) and other documents concerning the realization of university aims in the sphere of international connections;

- co-ordination of activity of university subdivisions on development and implementation of international agreements, programs, projects and treaties;

- fulfilling of obligations, in correspondence with the international agreements of the Russian Federation and agreements, contracts (treaties) of Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation especially concerning the university;

- organization of raising the level of research and educational staff skill, post-graduates' skill, university students' skill in different aspects of international activity (including language training abroad), in order to form the reserve for the program of international collaboration to be realized;

- organization and control of realization of educational-practical training of foreign students (together with dean's offices of principal faculties), including students' exchanges on the base free of charge with institutes of higher education of foreign countries.

- coordination with foreign partners, international organizations both abroad and inland, foreign states' embassies on questions of realization of international university connections;

- organization and reception of foreign delegations, specialists, students, post-graduates;

- organization of international seminars, symposiums, conferences, celebrations of significant dates in university life;

- cooperation with public authorities on questions of foreign citizens' stay on the territory of the Russian Federation ;

- preparation of suggestions on the perspective and current financing of university international connections;

- development of external economic activity of the university, coordination with joint enterprises and other international organizations (structures) established within the university.
